SacramentoHistoryWhat is now the Sacramento Chapter of Black Sheep HDFC actually began several years ago when a gentleman by the name of Johnny Lujan joined as a "nomad" and, because there were no other members near by, began to ride with the Livermore Chapter. While he rode and enjoyed fellowship with the Livermore Chapter, Johnny prayed asking God to birth a chapter closer to his home in the Sacramento area. A local pastor by the name of Sandy Shoemaker found Black Sheep on the Web. He called Marty Edwards, the founder and national president, and during their conversation the two of them enjoyed an immediate heart connection. After Pastor Sandy met with Marty personally and attended a Regional Breakfast in Temecula, Marty and Sandy began planning a "blitz" for the Sacramento area with the hope that it would generate enough interest to start a chapter. On October 9th, 2005, Marty Edwards hosted an informational gathering at a Sacramento restaurant. Including several members of the Livermore Chapter who came to offer their support, there were approximately twenty-five people in attendance. The mood was very upbeat, and a genuine excitement related to the formation of a new chapter could be felt among the group. Three weeks later, Pastor Sandy conducted a follow-up meeting at the same resaurant where eight people submitted their applications for membership in this newly forming chapter. With the addition of these eight, the Sacramento Chapter of Black Sheep HDFC was officially formed on October 30th, 2005, with an initial membership of eleven.
